September 2016

They say time flies when you’re having fun- so it goes without saying that we are having a great time at House of Hope village. So much has happened in the past few months.

We’ve seen another school year start off with 250 enrolments. Our fourth building is nearly complete which will give us an amazing facility for our kindy classes as well as more accommodation for long term volunteers.

We had lots of visitors in July and one of the exciting developments is having Click Films from Adelaide on site taking footage; there will be media releases soon of more of our emerging story. They worked alongside our Sponsorship Co-ordinator Jen (pictured here with the crew). Bethany Christian School added to this amazing team with one of their staff helping to capture some of those special moments that happen every day at House of Hope village. Joshua, one of our young men, helped out too. As well as that, we conducted our first partnership with the Indonesian Education Department and provided professional development training for 50 of their teachers.

We were also blessed to have some donors visit who had helped us equip our Medan uni house for the young men now entering their second year of university. One moment of great pride was when Berkat graduated from high school and won a place at Del University to continue his studies.

Our family continues to grow & we welcomed Ricardo into our home. He comes from Kupang & his mother had been abnadoned by his father. She had no money & no way to care for him or educate him. We were happy to offer him a home. If you would like to help by sponsoring him, email us & we will tell you that can happen.

We have added more staff to our school this year as we continue to grow numerically as well as starting to plan for the commencement of our junior high school in 2018. Construction will start in January 2017 so if you would like to partner with us, please get in touch.

We also congratulate our head teacher, Dana, and his wife Ririn on the birth of their first child, a son called Rangin.

We take this opportunity to thank our faithful sponsors and partners who make life so much richer for the children of Indonesia.
